I am a Computer Science Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas, San Antonio. My primary research focuses on polar regions' sea ice analysis to understand the melting and retreat of sea ice and its impact on global warming and climate change. I utilize remote sensing satellite data from the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA, including high-resolution imagery from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2, and point cloud data from ICESat-2. My work involves polar sea ice classification, lead detection, and freeboard calculation using deep learning techniques. Additionally, I have scaled workflows for various tasks using Spark-based MapReduce and distributed deep learning methods.
